Experience
I studied computer science and elementary education at Rutgers. I've always loved logic and numbers, and I have taught and tutored computer science and math for eleven years. I was a math tutor in algebra and geometry for middle school students. I think it's essential to have good teachers to inspire the many students who struggle in math. I am most passionate about teaching algebra, because I think it lays the foundation of logic in math. While working with elementary-aged students in math, I saw the need for reading intervention, so I learned the Wilson method and have tutored Wilson reading for two years. So much of understanding math stems back to reading comprehension. I strive to help students understand in whatever way works best for them. I believe in meeting the student where they are, and adapting to their needs in order to foster a love for learning. It's important and rewarding for me to help students realize their potential, and to watch them overcome their challenges and succeed. Every person has their own unique talents, and tutoring allows me to help them be realized. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my cats and volunteering with a cat rescue shelter.
